How to add the bookings that come in through WhatsApp and Instagram to detailmasters

A job agreed in a conversation takes up the workshop like any other. Recording it takes a minute, and that is what puts it on your calendar, in the client's history and in the month's figures.

A detailing studio's front counter late in the day: a notepad with two lines written on it, a set of car keys and a phone. Behind it, out of focus, a car in the bay.

How do you record a job agreed by message?

Most work gets agreed on WhatsApp, on Instagram, over the phone or at the door, and that is fine. The trouble starts when that work only lives in a notebook: it takes up the workshop, but it is not on the calendar, not in the client's history and not in the month's figures. To record it, open Bookings and tap New Walk-in. All it needs is the client's name, the service, the day and time, and the price, and it takes a minute. The booking is confirmed straight away, with no request waiting to be accepted, and a new client appears under Customers with a badge saying they came through you.

The walk-in booking form, with the service chosen and the vehicle section below it.
You pick the service, the day and the time. The rest of the form follows the service you chose.

What do you get from it?

None of this depends on clients finding you through detailmasters. Once the booking is recorded:

  • the slot is taken on your calendar and stops showing as free on your public page;
  • the job goes on the client's record, next to the rest of their history;
  • the amount charged stays on the booking, and the month's total adds up job by job;
  • the client gets the confirmation we send as soon as you create the booking.

Who sets the price?

The studio. The form suggests the price in your catalogue for that service, and you can replace it with what you agreed with the client. For a job on the house, enter 0; if you leave the price empty on a service with no catalogue price, the form will not save the booking. In September, the form started asking for the vehicle size on services priced by size (before, it always suggested the smallest size, which left a seven-seater tens of euros short), and the History filter in Bookings started showing completed jobs with the amount charged on each.

The vehicle-size picker with Large chosen: the base price becomes €650 and the service costs between €650 and €750.
The same picker with Large: €650 instead of the sedan's €550. The starting figure moves with the car.
